Suzanne is an arts and dance movement therapist and member of the DTAA Training & Education Committee. Until recently she worked as a senior lecturer at Manukau Institute of Technology in South Auckland teaching counselling. Her work on the applied bachelor in counselling degree involved developing creative and expressive approaches to counselling, somatic responses to trauma and developing online delivery of the degree. She now works with masters students in arts therapy, providing clinical & research supervision and therapy. Her private practice involves working with individuals and groups including dementia groups and staff training. She has worked using dance movement therapy with children and young people on the spectrum and with related disorders. She has also worked with young mothers on a residential re-parenting course and with student groups. Her research includes working with migrants and refugees. She continues to explore her interest in the interface of wellbeing, dance movement therapy and positive arts therapy. She is aware of the powerful transformative potential of dance movement therapy.
